Getting there
To get there, you will have to drive 5 hours from Jakarta. You can use the Highway until Merak, follow Anyer, Carita and Labuan. At Labuan, turn left, drive few kilometers and follow the "Pulau Umang" advertising plate all the way to the boarding port in Sumur village. Just drive slowly in the intersection, to make sure you don't miss the plate. And of course, for safety reason. The road had improved a lot, but you will still find some holes in the road time to time, so drive carefully.

As soon you reach the boarding port, you will be welcomed by the hotel staff. You can let you car in the 24 hours guarded parking (hotel facilities). It takes only around 10 minutes to get to the Umang Island.
First impression : tranquility. The Island Hotel Beach Resort is quiet (at least during the day) and have a peaceful atmosphere. I personally like the lobby style. Wooden outdoor design with comfortable white sofa. Good mixes of luxury and simplicity. Behind the Lobby, direct contact to the Swimming pool and nice view to the beach. You can also use the Jacuzzi facility until late evening.
Accomodation
The hotel have around 30 Villa…. One villa including two rooms only. The rooms are big, clean
and
comfortable (with mezzanine and terrace). All standards 4 stars hotel
facilities are includes (TV, Hot shower, phone, mini-bar, etc…). If you
have limited budget, you can easily take a room for 6 people. Of course
with additional fee for extra beds.I liked very much the bathroom design. Quiet original, but no bath cup…. Anyway, who need bad cup when you have you own private beach just in the front of the room.
When you do the reservation, go have a look on their map web site. You can choose between sunset or sunrise room. Or choose between the restaurant and swimming pool facilities area, or spa in the other side of the island….
Activities
Plenty of activities are available in the Resort and they even organize excursion to the main island (group, adventure, etc..). Jet ski, snorkeling, spa or if you prefer just relax on the beach. By clear day, you have a wonderful view of the Krakatau volcano.
For the night, you can play pool, ping pong or just go get one of their cocktail in the bar. However, the selection is quiet limited for and hotel of this range. Especially for the wine and champagne.
Food
The restaurant have quiet limited menu on the card as well. But they have a very good buffet. When you make the reservation, don't forget to ask about their package menu promotion. You will get mostly Indonesian dishes (excellent quality). And sommetimes they served also acceptable western food.
If you go in couple and want to have a very romantic dinner, you can reserve a table on the pool side. Just in the front of the beach. Wonderful view and candles atmosphere.
